neo template 101

Those who have been around may have noticed a few changes since last week. I've been in the process of tweaking me template when Ramani has announced that his neo template is up for grabs! I've been so excited that I've been spending most of my waking hours trying to implement neo.
Why do you want neo?[...]can navigate through your blog much faster because the entire page (all the sidebar stuff) won't be reloaded while viewing every post.
For more reasons, see Neo - The lightning fast template for new Blogger
A little tip that may be of help to those who will luv to have neo on their blog
But, first some boring disclaimer stuff: I'm not claiming to be an expert. So, anything you read is to be taken with extreme caution! Save your template before you do any change to it!
If you want to keep your template but have neo, don't worry!
The only thing you have to consider is:
1) the blog widget in your template
2) the label sidebar widget from neo
3) the Recent Post sidebar widget from neo
4) the script for neo
Basically, your blog widget n that of neo are defined by <b:widget id="'Blog1'" locked="'true'" title="'Blog" type="'Blog'/">. All you have to do is replace yours by that of neo. Note though, in neo, the template widget is expanded. So, you will have to copy/paste everything that's between <div id='main-wrapper'><b:section class='main' id='main' showaddelement='no'> and </div></b:section>
Next you have to get the code for the label and the Recent Post widgets.
The label is between <div id='sidebar-wrapper'> and </div>
The Recent Post is between <div id='newsidebar-wrapper'> and </div>
Copy/ Paste them into your sidebar. In his neo FAQ, Ramani advises us to have the blogpost to the right (follow link). It's up to you how you want it.
Almost there!!!
Next step is to grab <script language="javascript" src="http://www.anniyalogam.com/neo/neo.js"/> and to insert it between </b:skin> and </head>
Save and voila! lol...not really for you now have to marry your CSS with that of the widgets you have just transferred from neo. But, zat's rather easy. Hopefully!
What zee mwa has done?
Personally, I've only transferred the Recent Post and the main blog widgets. The one thing I'm having trouble with is that the comments don't load automatically. I need to click on the links in the Recent Post widget for the comments to appear. There may be a few more bugs around. But, I'm kinda happy with how things are. Also, because I'm using IE 7, I don't have a clue how me blog looks on older versions of IE. I have to use uni's PC. Even then, I can't do any mods as it's uni! It's not for recreation. Well, technically!
Anyways, it looks ok on firefox and I'm happy with that. I need to rid me source code of some of the remnants of me previous template. But, rite now, I just want to enjoy this revamped version of Wazeeland 1.5! I'm loving it!!! :D
Meli, it's sooooo freaking fast you won't even be able to catch a glimpse of me bum! :P
